Frequently Asked Questions
A: We charge a fair hourly rate for our services and bill in 15 minute increments. The amount of time needed to complete bookkeeping depends on the type of business transactions, complexity of work, how much data entry each client does on their own, the accuracy of the data entry, and the volume of transactions. We would be happy to get you set up in QuickBooks if you are currently
not using the software or come in and utilize your existing QuickBooks
system to further your training or to take over the ongoing bookkeeping tasks. Our motto is that business owners should "focus on your business" by delegating bookkeeping tasks to someone who specializes in it.
Training: QuickBooks can be wonderful to use but there is a high learning curve to
using it correctly. Typically to get set up in QuickBooks for the first time and do some initial training, we recommend meeting for 3 hours followed by anotehr training session after a month of using the program.
Ongoing or Periodic Bookkeeping: You can hire Bliss Bookkeeping to do weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even annual bookkeeping. We would be pleased to meet with you to assess your bookkeeping needs and to get an initial ballpark estimate of what you can expect to pay.
A: We use antivirus software and always make sure the software is up to date. We can transfer files over a secure FTP site to ensure that confidential data is protected over the Internet. We set a master password for our computers and individually for QuickBooks files and we recommend that our clients do the same. We can also sign a confidentiality agreement with our clients so
that they have the peace of mind that sensitive financial information
is always kept confidential but we never discuss client information with anyone apart from a client's CPA.
A: We do not advise on income tax issues since we are not accountants. We advise you to seek advice on any income tax questions from a certified public accountant or a certified tax planner. We do, however, assist with applying for sales tax licenses which can be quite confusing, set-up sales taxes
properly in QuickBooks, and prepare any necessary sales tax returns due monthly, quarterly, or annually.
Q: Why should I use Bliss Bookkeeping instead of hiring my own in-house bookkeeper? A: Many companies do have an on-staff bookkeeper because their financial transactions warrant a part-time or even full-time employee. As many business owners know, there are many costs involved with hiring, training, and retaining a permanent staff person. You must consider the overall cost of retaining a bookkeeper including overhead costs, vacation time, insurance, equipment, training, and downtime. In the end, it may make good financial sense to outsource your bookkeeping services to Bliss Bookkeeping to avoid the costs and time involved with maintaining your own employee.
A: Give us a call or send us an email and we can set up an initial complimentary appointment to discuss your business and bookkeeping needs. We would love to be a part of your team and help with your business success.
