Q: What kind of software do you use?

  • We use QuickBooks, the industry-leading accounting software by Intuit. We support both PC and Mac versions of QuickBooks Desktop as well as QuickBooks Online.

Q: How much do you charge for your services?

  • We are happy to discuss fees after an initial consultation. Every business is different and must be evaluated individually as far as bookkeeping fees.  

  • We offer fixed monthly rates which vary depending on business activity and complexity. This helps clients with budgeting and smoothing out the expense of bookkeeping as work can vary from season to season.

  • The amount of time needed to complete bookkeeping depends on the type of business transactions, complexity of work, how much data entry each client does on their own, the accuracy of the data entry, and the volume of transactions.

  • Generally, most clients pay a flat monthly fee but an hourly fee may be more appropriate for a few industries or businesses.

Q: Can you train me in QuickBooks?

  • We are currently not offering training sessions.

Q: How often do you do my bookkeeping?

  • You can hire Bliss Bookkeeping to do weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even annual bookkeeping.   We would be pleased to meet with you to assess your bookkeeping needs.

Q: What precautions do you take to keep my business data confidential?

  • We use antivirus software and always make sure the software is up to date. We can share files on a secure shared file system.  

  • We only use secure file download services when transferring company data to ensure that confidential information is protected over the Internet.

  • We set a master password for our computers and individually for QuickBooks files and we recommend that our clients do the same.

  • We can also sign a confidentiality agreement with our clients so that they have the peace of mind that sensitive financial information is always kept confidential but we never discuss client information with anyone apart from a client's CPA.

  • We shred paper documents containing sensitive information. 

Q: Can you advise me on tax issues?

  • We do not advise on income tax issues since we are not certified public accountants (CPA).  We advise you to seek advice on any income tax questions from a certified public accountant or a certified tax planner. 

  • We do, however, assist with applying for sales tax licenses which can be quite confusing, proper set-up of sales taxes in QuickBooks, and prepare any necessary sales tax returns due monthly, quarterly, or annually.

  • We also can assist with setting up payroll accounts if needed, for an additional fee.

Q: Why should I use Bliss Bookkeeping instead of hiring my own in-house bookkeeper?

  • Many companies do not have an on-staff bookkeeper because their financial transactions do not warrant a dedicated employee to do their bookkeeping.

  • As many business owners know, there are many costs involved with hiring, training, and retaining a permanent staff person.

  • You must consider the overall cost of retaining a bookkeeper including overhead costs, vacation time, benefits, business insurance, equipment, training, and downtime.

  • In the end, it may make good financial sense to outsource your bookkeeping services to an independent bookkeeping service like Bliss Bookkeeping to avoid the costs and time involved with maintaining your own in-house employee.
